Royals Player of the Game

Kyle Isbel

1-for-2, 2B, 3 RBI

It was a good day at the office for Kyle Isbel today. He supplied the go ahead runs in the bottom of the sixth with his 2-RBI double then added a sac fly in the eighth. He has had five RBI’s in the past three games and seems to have a knack for some clutch hits. Along with his great defense, Isbel driving in runs would be a great development for the Royals.

Key Highlights

Outside of Isbel, the bottom of the order was great for the Royals. Adam Frazier hit a solo shot and had two runs scored on the day. Nick Loftin went 1-for-2 with two runs scored and two walks to go with Isbel’s day. The top of the order also had a good day as Maikel Garcia, Bobby Witt Jr., and Vinnie Pasquantino all had hits on the day. Vinnie also had a 2-RBI double on the day.

The pitching side of things saw some interesting developments. Alec Marsh was through five solid innings, but was sent out in the sixth and didn’t get an out. Sam Long came into the game and gave up an inherited runner, but shut down the rally after that. Will Smith continues to be good with another shutdown inning. John Schreiber and James McArthur also had good innings to close it down.

Summary of the Next Game

The Royals will be looking for a series sweep against the Mariners in tomorrow’s game and try to catch up to the Guardians in the AL Central. It will be the battle of the aces as Cole Ragans (4-4, 3.21 ERA) and George Kirby (5-5, 4.05 ERA) will face off in the finale.
