Key Highlights
It looked like trouble early for Brady Singer, who had a 26 pitch first inning, and he luckily got out of it, allowing nothing in the process. But bounced back after that with a 6 pitch second inning. As for Max Fried, he was just looking un-hittable and the Royals couldn’t do anything against him. Including Fried showing off his defensive skills, picking off Michael Massey in the fourth. In the bottom half of that inning, the Royals don’t complete a double play, which leads to Brady Singer giving up a two run bomb up to Sean Murphy, to give the Braves the lead 2-0. An 0-2 hanging slider with two outs to a home run hitter and former All-Star doesn’t sound like a smart idea, but what do I know. Murphy was in a deep slump and is not playing well this season, so all the more reason not to give him anything to hit. Brady does give this team yet another quality start. Going six and only allowing two runs. A solid performance by Brady as he just keeps this team in the game.
That’s been the whole motto the whole year, just to stay in each game. And they feel confident in their odds. The offense needed to step up though. And they were silent through eight innings because of Max Fried. They just couldn’t get anything going. Total dominance by the lefty. He ended up going 8.2 scoreless, as he allowed a couple baserunners at the end of his outing. And with Salvador Perez coming up as the tying run, they we’re going to let him take that chance. But Fried was incredible. He had the chance at a Maddux on Friday, but couldn’t put down Bobby Witt Jr. and he was taken out from there. Salvy is put down on one pitch, and now the Royals now have to wait for the Twins game to go final. But KC goes down 3-0 tonight giving close to nothing on offense.
Summary of the Next Game
We continue this series tomorrow. Because playoff seeding is still in play. Seth Lugo is scheduled to pitch on Saturday but we’ll see what happens from here on out. Atlanta has yet to announce who’s starting for them on Saturday. There was a story that came out Friday, that the Braves were waiting to announce their starters based on their tragic number. I think they are trying to save their ace, Chris Sale, for Monday’s doubleheader against the Mets. But Kansas City might force their hand if they’re on the brink of elimination. As for Kansas CIty, from here on out you have to just keep winning and control what you can control, because all that matters is that you make the postseason. It’s baseball at 6:20p local time on Saturday at Truist Park, as the Royals look to keep the line moving.
