Mozzicato named MiLB Award Winner

The 2024 season hardware has started flowing in recent days. The Royals big league club saw both Bobby Witt Jr. and Seth Lugo win Gold Glove Awards. On Monday, both Salvador Perez and Witt were named finalists for Silver Slugger Awards at their position.

The awards haven’t been limited to just the Major Leagues either. Pitching prospect Frank Mozzicato was named a Minor League Gold Glove Winner on Monday as well. Mozzicato had a standout 2024 season for High-A Quad Cities. Across 101.2 innings of work, Mozzicato had 18 chances in the field and did not commit an error.

In 22 starts, Mozzicato finished 2024 with a 3.45 ERA. He was among the best in the entire minor leagues with a .199 batting average against. There were some concerns, however. Among them a drop in strikeout rate and continued struggles with command. Even still, it was a solid showing for Mozzicato that now ends with some season Award hardware for the first time in his career.
