Naturals Split Rain Shortened Series

Record on the Season: 9-11

In a week where the Naturals already only had three games to play, a bout of rain-shortened it to two. The squad won game one by a score of 7-2 before being held scoreless in a 0-2 loss the following day. Both games offered something to watch, while ultimately providing little to discuss. Due to the sample size, we’ll keep this short and sweet.

Pitcher of the Week

Stephan Zobac threw 4.0 innings in his outing this week, giving up zero walks or hits. His immaculate 0.00 WHIP and 0.00 ERA in these innings were fantastic. Even more impressive was the eight strikeouts accumulated in just four innings. It was as well-rounded of an outing as a team could ask for, with the sole blemish coming on a hit batter.

Zobac has compiled a quietly solid season as a reliever with a 4.17 ERA and a 1.17 WHIP. His numbers don’t jump off the page but the 23-year-old looks to be a promising arm. He could be a solid depth builder to the big league pen shortly.

Hitter of the Week

Peyton Wilson has flashed a considerable amount of power this season. He only had eight plate appearances between the two games but showed out when he could. Three walks and two home runs created quite the conversation online. The two home runs came in the same game, he didn’t strikeout, and the walks bolstered his one-base value to the team. It was an all-around great two games for Wilson.

His average leaves a bit to be desired but it’d be hard to deny that he’s turned some heads this season. He has 10 home runs and 14 doubles on the year, showing a very adjustable power approach. Helping his low .231 average is a healthy 15.4% walk rate. Putting some work into his contact numbers could rocket him up the Royals’ top 30 prospects list.

Other Notables

Noah Cameron struck out 7 in 6.0 IP. It was a quality start with only two runs scored and zero walks.

Carter Jensen hit his first AA home run.

Gavin Cross walked three times and knocked two singles between the two games.

What’s Next

The Naturals host the Arkansas Travelers in a full six-game series. A couple of great promotions loom at the ballpark this week such as Dollar Dog Night and a Bobby Witt Jr. bobblehead giveaway. The 11-10 Travelers will provide a solid challenge for the Naturals this week.
