Brady Singer

6.0 IP, 3 ER, 5 H, 2 BB, 4 K

You don’t always get the win when you have a good start, and that was the case for Brady today. He made exactly three mistakes in this game that lead to home runs on each pitch. Two to the incomparable Shohei Ohtani, and one to the future hall of famer, Freddie Freeman. So, yeah, Singer had some bad luck today with no support to help him out. Other than that, Brady put together the Royals’ fourth consecutive quality start, silencing the bats of every other Dodger hitter. You can’t really ask more from your starting pitcher, he kept you in the game, didn’t allow a blowup, limited the damage, and took stress off the bullpen. Like I said before, just bad luck for the Royals the whole day.

Key Highlights

There wasn’t much else going for the Royals in this one. The offense was only able to tally three hits on the day as a team. Tyler Glasnow was proving to be worth that big extension he had in the offseason. It is refreshing sometimes to see a pitcher throw with such control of the game. Watch how he plans every pitch, and understands every batter. Honestly, it’s amazing to me that he has a 3.00 ERA. Every time Glasnow is on the mound, he seems to take over, and good luck getting to him at all. As for the Dodgers, we mentioned the three daggers from future hall of famers, so what can you do? You’re going to be on the wrong side of history sometimes, and I for one, would like to be on the bad side of history in June rather than October. You just get ruled by a good team sometimes, and today was one of those games for the Royals. But that doesn’t mean they can’t play with the good teams. Sure the Yankees series was hard to watch at times. But it’s good to have a wake up call sometimes to get the juices flowing.  It is ridiculous to see some people drag Brady through the mud for a start like this. For one, he didn’t get any support, but more importantly: you’re not going to win all the games. If your starter has a quality start against maybe the best lineup in baseball, you take those odds every day of the week. We just need to push on through, get over this one, and turn the page to Tuesday against Oakland.

Summary of the Next Game

The Royals will head to Oakland for the last time on Tuesday. Starting a three game set against an Athletics team that will no longer be in the Coliseum after 2024. Which is a sad time, for one of the most recognizable ballparks in MLB history. I for one, loved watching the games in Oakland, and there so many memories to have for years to come, but let’s get to the matchup. Hogan Harris hurls for the A’s, looking to continue his pretty good season. In five games total, and three starts this year, he has a 2.49 ERA in just over 25 innings pitched. The Royals will look to get their bats back on track against the 27-year-old southpaw. Kansas City will send out Alec Marsh, who held the Yankees scoreless through seven on Thursday. That turned out to be probably the best start of the year so far, given the circumstances. Marsh hopes that his highs continue against a young A’s lineup that honestly shouldn’t be overlooked. With it being the west coast, we have an 8:40p CST start for this one. With the “12 game gauntlet” over, hopefully the Royals can start to get back to their winning ways.
