Once again, “El Capitan” provides some offense for the Royals. He got the scoring started with an RBI double driving in Bobby Witt Jr and got another double later in the game. Continuing a hot start to the year, Salvy continues to be one of the consistent players in the Royals lineup, but it wasn’t enough against the Angels.

Key Highlights

Bobby Witt Jr. had a good offensive game as well going 2 for 4 with an RBI and a stolen base. He had a questionable steal of third base in the top of the sixth which led to a caught stealing. Outside of Salvy and BWJ the offense was pretty quiet with only four more hits on the night. Kyle Isbel got a hit to drive in the Royals third run of the game to make it closer.

The pitching lost the Royals this game. Cole Ragans struggled and didn’t look to have his stuff on the night giving up seven runs on eight hits and a walk while only striking out three. Nick Anderson came in to try to stymie the Angels, but let in two runs on a Logan O’Hoppe double. Matt Sauer came in and had a relatively clean outing walking one and striking out one.

Summary of the Next Game

The Royals had a shot to take first in the AL Central with a win, but lost that chance for now. Game four of the series will see the Royals send out Seth Lugo (5-1, 1.74 ERA) to try to win the series. The Angels will send out Patrick Sandoval (2-5, 4.85 ERA) to try and split the series.
