The offense might have taken a bit to get into the game, but the pitching kept them in the game. Alec Marsh pitched five innings giving up two runs before turning the game over to Daniel Lynch. Lynch would then keep the Royals in the game while limiting the Twins bats. He would give up one hit in the seventh and strikeout four in this outing. Since being called up on August 26, Lynch has only allowed two hits in 7.2 IP, while lowering his season ERA to 4.75 – from 5.61.

Before the rally in the eighth inning the offense was quiet. Bailey Ober pitched a gem only allowing one hit before being taken out after the seventh inning. The Twins would bring in Jhoan Duran in the eighth and the Royals woke up. After Michael Massey struck out, Freddy Fermin singled to start the rally. In the series finale, the Royals could continue to crawl back into the division title race and build a lead over the Twins.
