Under Siege: Chasers Drop Opener 11-3 at Indy

The Omaha Storm Chasers dropped their third straight series opener on Monday night, taking an 11-3 defeat at the hands of the Indianapolis Indians at Victory Field.

This is the fourth time in the last five series’ that the Chasers have lost a series opener, and this was one of those games where nothing went right.

Right off the top, the Chasers got two men on in the Top of the 1st Inning when Drew Waters and CJ Alexander both walked. However, Nick Pratto lined out to the left and then Alexander was caught stealing.

It only went downhill from there as Jonathan Bowlan gave up three runs on two hits and an error by Cam Devanney.

Indy sent 11 men to the plate in the 3rd Inning, chasing Bowlan after scoring four runs and two outs. Anthony Veneziano would give up two more on a bases-loaded single. Indy went to the break with a 9-0 lead after three innings of play.

Matt Gorski, the #15 prospect in the Pittsburgh Pirates system according to Baseball America, launched a 423ft home run over the center field fence to make it an 11-0 Indy lead after four innings.

The Chasers offense did what they could, but only mustered three runs from innings five to nine and took the 11-3 loss to start the series.
