Royals Player of the Game

Vinnie Pasquantino

3 for 5, 1 2B, 3 RBI’s

Vinnie Pasquantino needed a game like this after a rough stretch of play. The offense got going in the fifth and Vinnie played a role in it driving in Bobby Witt Jr. and Kyle Isbel. Later in the game he drove in his third run on a single driving in BWJ again. In what was a rough go of it for Vinnie, in the past week he has looked solid again raising his average from .206 to .238 while still walking a good amount. If he can stay at this level of play then he should solidify this top of the order.

Key Highlights

Outside of Vinnie’s production offensively, BWJ also had a good game going 2 for 4 with a walk and two runs scored. He also tallied another steal in this game raising his season total to 13. Kyle Isbel also had a good game going 2 for 4 as he drove in the first run of the game. He has three multi hit games in the past seven games. The only player who didn’t get a hit on the night was Hunter Renfroe who continues a rough start to the year.

On the pitching side of things, Seth Lugo wasn’t as sharp as he usually is but he tallies another quality start. He went 6 and 2/3 with 5 K’s, 1 BB, giving up three earned runs. The bullpen was solid for the most part as both Angel Zerpa and John Schrieber get clean sheets while giving up four hits combined. James McArthur, however, has struggled recently and blew the save tonight giving up three in the ninth.

Summary of the Next Game

Once again the Royals look to take the rubber match to win a series. The Royals will send out Brady Singer (2-1, 2.46 ERA) who looks to build off of some solid starts against Texas and Detroit. The Brew Crew will send out Joe Ross (1-3, 4.65 ERA) who is coming off his best start against the Cubs in his last outing.
